Friday Fashion: Lovin the Fringe!

Happy Friday!!! This is one of my favorite quotes of all time! Fashion is so much like your passion - it is so primally personal that no one wears even the exact same pieces of clothing the same way. And that's what makes it so special!

Something that I've been adoring lately is fringe. It started with a scarf, was love at first sight with a pair of boots, and I'm 100% in with the handbags and necklaces. Not sure what I'm talking about or need a little reassurance? Check out this great article on Effortless Style all about styling with fringe.

Dying over these outfits!!!! And loving how the boots are going across seasons....

And for the last few weeks - I've been practically dreaming about these boots.... actually I'm trying to decide between the 2 layer, 3 layer, or the over the knee. And the color has me stumped too. I'm loving the dusty brown but after seeing K Kardash rocking the black ones - I'm having second thoughts! But I'm going for it! You'll just have to wait and see what I pick :)

Side note - if you've never owned a pair of Minnetonka's you are missing out. I bought a pair probably 7 years ago and they are still going strong! Granted I don't live up north but they do get ALOT of wear from December thru March {our temp is 34 right now!}

And because I'm just amazed by this amazing cause and I was already talking about shoes anyway - there is a super sweet family who is asking for shoe donations to help fund their adoption. If you have any here I'm gathering info to share!goog

Pinspired for July - 1 Coral shirt 3 ways!

I am so excited that it's almost the 4th! And love that I get to start off this holiday week with a fun stroll thru Pinterest to gain some outfit inspiration and a link up at Pinterest Told Me To! And since I love my new Old Navy purchases so much - I decided to use my new coral tee as the base for all 3 outfits! It's kinda fun to see multiple options for one piece right? So this is my base piece... and I just might have gone to the store and gotten every single color they have... just saying - it's that good! And in stores it was marked as $10 vs $12 online. If you are curious on sizing I got a small and its still got a decent bit of room to move in without a wardrobe malfunction while chasing the kids!

Coral + Turquoise

Shorts - Old Navy ($10 in store)

Stripe + Polka Dots

Max Studio Skirt - TJ Maxx
Scarf (no tag!) - TJ Maxx

Coral + White + Animal Print
Leopard print cardigan - Forever 21
White Crops - TJ Maxx

And although this is not Pinspired... I had to throw this in b/c my hubby is a HUGE Florida Gator fan! So anytime I see orange and blue together that's all I think of!

Fashion Find: Printed Shorts for $10!!!!

Apologies on my absence... It has been a crazy summer and I imagine that's not gonna change! I've decided to take some of the stress off of myself and only do 3 posts a week. One DIY, one recipe, and one 'other' post such as a fashion find like I am doing today!

So I was lucky enough to have some totally free mommy time and I decided to pop into Old Navy among some other errands I completed. Since I was kid free it was the perfect time to actually try on some clothes! And look at these ADORABLE shorts I found... For $10 but originally $22.94!!! And don't get me started on their perfect v neck tees for $5... And the best dressy tee I've found in ages for $10 too! So if you need to refresh your summer wardrobe on the cheap go check Old Navy out!

Polka Dots & Shorts

Like the rest of the South, we got hit with these crazy springtime showers this week followed by a bit of a cool front. It still warms up in the afternoons but the mornings are slightly comfortable (not yet 85 degrees!) My mom outfit of late has been shorts with a thin jacket and flat sandals. It allows me to cool and then remove the jacket in the afternoon when the sun really gets cooking.

I turned to Pinterest to look for some more short friendly options and look what I stumbled on.... polka dots and jean shorts! My most comfy and worn in shorts are a pair of very worn in cuffed jean shorts. I love them!!! And they are from Forever 21 :)

I was surprised to see that I had both a long sleeve and tank top polka dot shirt. Yes, I need to clean and organize my closet! The above image of Kourtney K got me thinking about trying pink and khaki with the polka dots and I really liked it. I officially need a spring time khaki jacket!

And of course, red and polka dots is so classic! I like the added funk of the army green crop jacket and the animal print sandals. Thinking a chambray shirt would have rocked this too!

Stripes for Springtime

I am linking up with Sheaffer, Shay, and Mel at Get Pinspired!

I recently got this adorable striped shirt at Private Gallery. I love the material and it is a great piece to dress up, dress down, and throw on when I quickly need to get out the door. If you are in the market for a great striped shirt this one rocks for only $24!

I know that stripes are like a neutral and that there are a million options to play with.... but I needed some help! I found 3 outfits that I wanted to try out using the striped shirt for springtime looks. So lets get started!

OUTFIT 1: Stripes & Coral

I think that this look would be awesome with the floral tote or even a floral scarf. Only I don't have either.... sigh. So its just stripes and coral for now! I am adding a chunky gold necklace to my shopping list because that would totally complete this outfit too!

And then I realize that I do have a graphic scarf that just might work...

OUTFIT 2: Stripes & Green

I loved both of these inspiration pictures! The green and navy is such a fresh and lively combo!

I threw on my new wedges with this outfit for a cute summer date look. And this scarf is from World Market. Super cute right? I bought it hoping to make it into pillows but I am not sure my closet is willing to make the sacrifice! Again, that chunky gold necklace would totally work to dress this down with some flat sandals too.

OUTFIT 3: Stripes and Yellow

I am pretty sure that EVERY single person alive has this pinned. Its such a put together look! White jeans are another item on my shopping list and in the meantime I switched this look up wearing jeans since I also don't have a chambray shirt!

And what a fun way to translate this for spring or summer?

LBD for a Spring Wedding

As I mentioned earlier this week, we had a wedding to attend last Friday. It was a garden wedding on Friday evening at 6:30pm. This left me wondering what the proper attire might be. I decided that my little black dress was the perfect option! It might also have something to do with the fact that shopping with a 1 and 3 year old for dresses is never going to end in anything but frustration!

Being that it's spring and it was a garden wedding I wanted to lighten up the black dress a bit and I turned to my trusty friend, the internet to help! I found tons of great ideas but this was the look that I went with (with a few minor tweaks!)

I already had a LBD so I set off looking for the accent pieces! Thankfully, the kiddos are much more behaved when I am shoe and accessory shopping! So I set off to find a pair of nude heels, a turquoise statement necklace, and an off white scarf (in place of the jacket if it got a bit chilly!)

I am a heels girl. I wore 4 inch heels for 6+ years to work every single day even while 8 months pregnant (maybe that explains Little Man's early arrival at 35 weeks...) But in the last year, I can count on one hand the number of times I have worn heels. So I was hoping to find a pair of heels that might be cute and comfortable and springy. Of course, wedges were the answer! I totally lucked out and found a steal of a deal on the very first pair that I tried on! And they are crazy comfortable! Not quite the nude pumps from the inspiration pic but these are actually much lighter in person.

I hit up the jewelry sale section and was shocked to see some really great options! But right away this necklace caught my eye. I loved that it was big, gold, and appeared well made. I was sold when I saw that it was half off of the $48 price tag!

Last on my list was the scarf. Scarves can be pretty pricey, especially solid ones it would seem. I was also looking for one that was a thin gauzy material to work for spring and summer. If you have not ever been into Private Gallery you need to run there ASAP! They have awesome clothes, accessories, and shoes at great prices! I lucked out and found the perfect scarf there for $12. The label says dry clean only which I noticed after my little princess got spaghetti on it and it totally came right up with water. No stain, no damage to the scarf!

Of course, I missed out on the full shot of the outfit but I think that it totally worked! I also love that all of the pieces that I bought can will totally help me to better create outfits from other pieces that I have in my closet to create lots of other looks once the wedding was over.

An Easter Look: Army Green & Pink

It's a big weekend in our house with Fia's birthday today, my birthday tomorrow, and Easter on Sunday! We started off the fun weekend with an Easter Egg Hunt this morning. Unfortunately, the weather did not get the memo that spring is here. It was 45 outside when we left!

I had an adorable spring outfit planned for myself and the kids, but alas we needed something warmer...

I turned to my (old) new favorite military jacket, skinny jeans, black tee, and pink striped scarf. Cute and casual Easter look that still lets me chase after the kids!

Here are some similar army green and pink color inspirations that Helped me pull this together. Linking up at Get Pinspired!

And of course, some pics of the kiddos at their Easter Egg Hunt! Little Man was so sweet helping Fia to find eggs (even though all she wanted to do was shake the one egg that she found.)

Lovely lilac: 2 for 1!

It goes without saying that I love my lilac skinny cords. They are a perfect transition color to spring and they work with so many pieces in my closet. Today you get 2 for 1! Apologies that the picture quality quickly declines! Major props to the very talented bloggers who can photograph themselves!
Linking up at Get Pinspired!

First up lilac and navy...

And then a quick switch to lilac and yellow....

Just a quick note on these awesome boots.... that I totally scored a deal on! They are Steve Madden Candence and they are crazy comfortable and cute too right? They day before we flew out to Utah, my mom and I hit up the mall with the kids in tow to get them some new shoes. Of course, I could not resist the Dillards shoe department! And boy was I happy to find these marked down to $33!

Not so Gray thanks to Pinterest!

As I mentioned about 500 times, the prospect of packing for Florida and Utah for both me and the kids was a daunting task. I quickly realized that I needed to find multi purpose pieces that could easily be layered. Thank the Lord I did this because the weather in Florida was pretty darn crazy!

On our first day at Disney's Magic Kingdom, I spent the day in shorts and a light jacket (and lots of very expensive Disney sunscreen thanks to the unexpected warm weather!) But at night, the weather turned really cold! Thankfully, we ran back to the hotel for a quick break outfit change prior to the night parades and meeting up with some friends.

This super cute image popped into my mind as I was throwing on my clothes while Little Man was trying to jump off the bunk beds in our room at the Wilderness Lodge.

It was a touch too cold to go with the leggings so I paired my gray sweater and scarf with jeans and a navy tank for another layer of warmth but still very much loved the ease and casual look of the outfit! Pardon the horrible iPhone mirror pic :)

Next Friday's fashion post will look at some more of my favorite travel outfits!
